Hi, I’m Julia Shafer—though you might hear people call me “Jules” or “Julie.”

I founded Clearly 9 Consulting after spending nearly twenty years in marketing tech for public safety. I maintain deep-rooted connections within that community. I have learned many lessons about messaging with perspective from all of the professionals that chose that line of work and the tech companies that support them.

Why the Enneagram?

I learned of the Enneagram several years ago, but in 2023, I started to understand that I have barely scratched the surface. It can be so much more than what I originally assumed would be just a fun personality test.

Here’s a little excerpt from The Enneagram Entrepreneur's blog that hit home of what the Enneagram is and what it is not:

“It’s not a box—it’s a mirror. The Enneagram doesn’t tell you who you are or trap you in a label. It reflects the unconscious patterns you’re already living, so you can see them more clearly.
It’s about motivation, not behavior. While most personality tests describe what you do, the Enneagram helps you understand why you do it. Two people might behave the same way but be driven by completely different core motivations.
It’s a tool for growth. It doesn’t stop at naming your tendencies—it invites you into deeper awareness and offers a path toward change and integration.”

I began self-studying, and continue to do so, both for personal growth and to gain a better understanding of others’ point of view. Afterall, I am a Type 9, a peacemaker 🙂
